Even a Morsel Becomes Worship
The Prophet ﷺ said that even a morsel of food placed in your spouse's mouth is charity. What changes when intention does?
The Ordinary Day
Consider what an ordinary day contains: waking, eating, working, speaking, waiting, sleeping. Most of it feels neither sacred nor sinful — just neutral. The background noise of being alive. But the hadith on intention does not leave room for neutral. Every action is headed somewhere. The question is whether you have pointed it.
"Actions are judged by intentions, and every person will have what they intended." — Sahih Bukhari & Muslim
What Intention Actually Means
Intention is not a feeling. It is not the warm sensation of being spiritual. It is a direction. You can intend in a single second — before you sit down to work, before you speak, before you hand something to someone. "I do this for Allah." That is enough. That is what transforms the mundane. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whatever you spend for the sake of Allah will be rewarded, even the morsel you lift to your wife's mouth." (Bukhari). A morsel. The smallest act of care.
The Qur'anic Foundation
Allah says: "Say: Indeed, my prayer, my rites, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of all worlds." (6:162). This ayah describes a life in the world — praying, living, dying — all of it turned in one direction. That is what intention as a foundation means. Not to remove yourself from ordinary life, but to bring the ordinary life into the presence of Allah.
You do not need to do more. You need to mean more with what you already do.
